1 Adar: Increasing in Joy
INCREASING IN JOY
When Adar begins, we increase in joy. (Talmud, Taanis 29a; Mogen Avraham, Orach Chayim 686)
This does not mean simply that we increase our joy at the beginning of Adar; rather, we continue increasing throughout Adar day by day, minute after minute. Even after Adar, we bring this joy into the entire year so that everything we do is filled with it. (Sefer HaSichos 5751 vol. 1 pg. 339ff)
The ever-increasing joy of Adar is a preparation for the Final Redemption. Even though the joy of the Redemption will be infinite, it will, nevertheless, grow qualitatively greater and greater, constantly reaching new levels that completely transcend our previous joy. We must prepare for this now by experiencing unlimited, ever-growing joy.
