According to Beis Hillel one should light one lamp the first night, adding one more on each succeeding night…because one must continually increase in matters of holiness.

We must constantly grow and increase our Torah learning and mitzvah observance. However, Moshiach represents growth of a completely different order—a quantum leap.
More than anything else, Moshiach will teach us to overcome all obstacles and challenges, to make the impossible possible, so we can make miracles on our own!
