9 Nissan: Walking in G-d's Ways
WALKING IN G-D’S WAYS
...They should keep the way of the L-rd to perform righteousness and justice.... (Bereishis 18:19)
You shall follow the L-rd your G-d, fear Him, keep His commandments, heed His voice, worship Him, and cleave to Him. (Devarim 13:5)
Exile is compared to a father and son playing hide and seek. A foolish son will soon give up and cry, but a wise son will not lose heart; he knows that his father is merely testing him.
When the son shows his wisdom and faithfulness, the father reveals himself and kisses his son with increased love and affection.
So too, the first step to knowing G-d is to go in His ways by following His Torah and keeping His commandments. At first, we may not see the G-dliness in these acts, like the child searching for his father. Yet, every step we take to fill our lives with Torah and mitzvos and acts of goodness and kindness brings us one step closer to the time when God will reveal Himself.
